Best restaurants in Essex: The Chelmsford Italian restaurant diners say is ‘better than Michelin star’

An Essex Italian restaurant has been hailed the best in the county, with one reviewer claiming it is even ‘better than Michelin Star’.

Glowing reviews praise the award-winning restaurant, with most people opting to give the Italian 5 stars on Tripadvisor.

Topping the TripAdvisor chart for best restaurants in Essex, the Chelmsford-based Vita Bella has over 2,300 reviews and is often praised for its fine dining experience and a la carte menu.

Some of the most popular items on the menu include veal, seabass, mussels and tiramisu.

Based at The Tye East in East Hanningfield, Chelmsford, Vita Bella has been coined as an “outstanding” Italian, according to reviews.

The restaurant has won four consecutive TripAdvisor awards for the Certificate of Excellence from 2015 to 2018, and prides itself on providing an “authentic, traditional Italian evening”.

Diners on Tripadvisor regularly mention how Vita Bella is perfect for a special occasion, with the restaurant going “above and beyond”.

“When we told the staff that we were here to celebrate our first anniversary they really went above and beyond with making the night special for us,” a review said.

One reviewer even said the Italian was better than any Michelin star restaurants: “The service from stepping out of your car to sitting at your table is better that any Michelin star restaurants.”

Another review thought their time at the restaurant was “outstanding”: “If I could only have one more meal ever, I would go back to the Vita Bella. There was nothing that wasn’t outstanding about our experience.”

Vita Bella is open every day, with the exception of bank holidays.
