The discovery of a human bone in an Jap North Carolina pet park has prompted a law enforcement investigation.
The Rocky Mount Law enforcement Office suggests “a citizen” referred to as the office all around 7:20 a.m. Wednesday to report finding the bone at the Most effective Friend’s Doggy Park on Lee Avenue.
A “preliminary investigation” uncovered it was human, police reported in a news launch.
Rocky Mount is a town of about 58,000 persons, found 55 miles northeast of Raleigh.
Law enforcement “collected the bone” and have turned to an East Carolina University forensic anthropologist and the Point out Bureau of Investigation for assistance solving the mystery, officials said.
”According to the anthropologist, owing to the in depth weathering of the human bone, it is historic, which indicates it is believed to be near to a single hundred several years outdated,” law enforcement reported in the launch. “The Rocky Mount Law enforcement Department will go on to examine the condition.”
Best Friend’s Puppy Park is a nine-acre “off-leash” canine park managed by the Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation Department.
“Digging is strongly discouraged,” the section states. “No food items or doggy chews are allowed within just the off-leash region.”
