ASHEVILLE – The S&W Current market, Asheville’s 1st foodstuff hall, has introduced strategies to open to the general public June 16 at 11:30 a.m. The assortment of unbiased dining places and beverage purveyors requires over the iconic S&W Setting up at 56 Patton Ave.

Constructed in 1929, the historic downtown building was designed by architect Douglas Ellington and stays a showcase of traditional art deco attractiveness and intricate architectural facts. In 2017, the setting up was bought by Ellington’s two nephews, Douglas and Kenneth Ellington, of Ellington Realty Group.

5-time James Beard Award nominee Meherwan Irani of Chai Pani Restaurant Group is the project’s culinary specialist. With The Ellington Realty Group, Irani curated the foods hall’s culinary lineup. 

“We understood we wanted a principle that opened this unique setting up to all, and the S&W Market does just that,” Irani said.

The room

Mentioned on the National Register of Historic Areas, the S&W Creating began its life as a household for the S&W Cafeteria, locally renowned for brief support food items in an upscale atmosphere.

A revamped inside will seek to evoke the very same strength of the initial S&W, with the buzz commencing on expanded sidewalk seating together the building’s entrance. Architect Diana Bellgowan was the layout lead on the task.

The major level of the foods corridor will have local community seating for up to 65 visitors, with standing tables for up to 20 more. There will be 100 seats on the mezzanine and an extra 40 seats on the outdoor patio.
