Westport’s new Tiny Dumpling House ghost kitchen area open for takeout

Charlie Gilhuly, who opened Grammie’s Donuts & Biscuits in the Publish Road space in mid-February, has adopted up with Minimal Dumpling Dwelling. He released the Asian-motivated takeout menu, with dishes like dumplings, rangoons, fried rice, noodles and sushi bowls, in mid-July.

“This menu is genuinely, genuinely good, chef-driven meals to go, and it really hits the Asian takeout itch,” he reported. 

Gilhuly experienced been contemplating other menus and concepts for the area and made a decision to shift ahead with the Asian-style fare. He is doing the job with his wife, Molly Healey, an knowledgeable chef who joined the kitchen right after leaving her function with Westport’s Manna Toast.

As ghost kitchen area principles, neither Grammie’s or Minimal Dumpling Residence offer dine-in services. Even though Grammie’s provides delivery by means of Grubhub, the Dumpling menu is pickup only at the moment, Gilhuly said. Pickups are obtainable Thursday via Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m., with ideal time slots on a 1st-appear, first-provide basis.

The menu presents shumai, potstickers and Szechuan dumplings with chicken or pork filling to begin, sunomono, or vinegar-pickled cucumber duck wonton soup and rangoons that go outside of just crab, with caramelized onion or mushroom filling. Other veggie-centric selections include things like carrot ginger and cabbage salads, mushroom fried rice, cold soba noodles with shaved veggies and seasonal fruit, and charred broccoli.

Much larger plates include things like hen katsu, with crispy-fried rooster breast, sushi rice and sesame slaw, miso-glazed Atlantic cod and a construct-your-own duck buns alternative with steamed bao, crispy duck breast, housemade plum sauce and sunomono. Sushi bowls are topped with lobster salad, marinated bluefin tuna, hamachi or shiitake mushrooms. A kids’ box features rooster katsu, chicken potstickers, fried rice, Chinese 5-spice doughnut holes and blueberries.


The menu also functions kits ($55 to $65) for more substantial meals, comprising a number of products. A family food kit delivers two kids’ packing containers and foodstuff for parents: cabbage salad, bluefin sushi bowl, rangoons, potstickers and doughnut holes. A date-evening kit offers a shareable a few-class menu with sushi bowls, shumai, duck buns and a matcha cronut. A “healthy dinner” kit spotlights vegetable dishes and the miso-glazed cod.
