Wondering what the best restaurants in the world are?
The World’s 50 Best released their annual list of the world’s top restaurants for 2022 on Tuesday, featuring selections from Italy, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Brazil and Denmark.
Mexico landed two entries, Quintonil at No. 9 and Pujol at No. 5, making the latter the best restaurant in North America. The best restaurant in South America is Peru’s Central, which landed at No. 2.
But the crème de la crème, according to the list, is in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. The restaurant, Geranium, features not only a superb menu, but also panoramic views and a national soccer stadium just next door.
The US clocked in with two restaurants, both in New York City: Atomix at No. 33, and Le Bernardin at No. 44.

10. Le Calandre (Rubano, Italy)
Le Calandre’s Massimiliano Alajmo is the youngest chef in the world to have earned three Michelin stars. And he’s continuing to do something right, with his restaurant kicking off the top 10.
9. Quintonil (Mexico City, Mexico)
Quintonil has only been around for a decade and is already a top 10 contender, with an expansive menu made from fresh, local ingredients.
8. Lido 84 (Gardone Riviera, Italy)
Menu highlights from Lido 84 include the Torta di Rose, the aubergine parmigiana and the Cacio e Pepe en Vessie, which is rigatoni pasta cooked inside a pig’s bladder.
7. A Casa do Porco (São Paulo, Brazil)
Turns out, dining at a top 10 restaurant doesn’t have to break your bank account. The menu at A Casa do Porco includes toasted sandwiches for as little as $3.
6. Asador Etxebarri (Axpe, Spain)
In addition to great food, Asador Etxebarri is also super scenic. The restaurant is located in a rustic, stone building with mountainous views of the Spanish Basque Country.
5. Pujol (Mexico City, Mexico)
Diners can enjoy all kinds of tacos at Pujol, which serves scallop tacos with avocado, ginger and shiso, as well as squash blossom tacos with koshihikari rice and amberjack. Chef Enrique Olvera, the mastermind behind Pujol, is also the owner of over a dozen internationally renowned restaurants including Manta in Los Cabos and Cosme and Atla in New York City.
4. DiverXO (Madrid, Spain)
The World’s 50 Best describes Diverxo as a “wacky wonderland of a restaurant.” The tasting menu features Cantonese sea noodles with eel stew, hare Katsu Sando with toasted butter brioche and Galician lobster.
3. Disfrutar (Barcelona, Spain)
Disfrutar’s creative menu includes a bun stuffed with caviar and sour cream as well as pesto served with pistachios and eel.
2. Central (Lima, Peru)
From scallops to goat’s neck, Central serves up all manner of culinary experiences.
1. Geranium (Copenhagen, Denmark)
This Scandinavian restaurant has a tasting menu that includes 20 different courses served over a minimum of three hours. Talk about bon appétit!
