‘Yahshi Bakes’ delivers a bite of heaven with Ethiopian, Jamaican-inspired desserts

OAKLAND, Calif. — Foods Network star and culinary prodigy Yahshimabet Sellassie has been baking up a “flavor of heaven” because the ripe age of 12.

As a tween, she launched Yahshi Bakes, a small business as a result of which she honors her heritage by infusing pastries with a special mix of spices from Ethiopia and Jamaica.

“It was constantly important to me to do a little something that is also having to pay homage to my ancestry,” claimed Sellassie “I imagine by incorporating people flavors I’m keeping myself related to those people roots.”

Korerima is Ethiopian cardamom which she grinds clean and provides to her pastries, which includes her orange cardamom coffee cake, almond cardamom shortbread, and chai cupcakes.

In addition, her mocha chai cake, lemongrass raspberry cake, and chocolate salted caramel cupcakes tantalize the style buds.

“She has an awesome way of placing all these spices together,” explained her father Abba Yahudah Sellassie. “It is to are living for.”

At 18 yrs outdated, Sellassie is concentrated on growing her company. She ships cookies nationwide and ideas to carry on opening pop-ups in major US towns.
