3 Super Yummy Kid-Friendly Strawberry Desserts To Try At Home

Whether you’re a child or an adult, one simply cannot resist a sweet treat. Kids naturally have a sweet tooth, but too much sugar and empty calories aren’t ideal. So if you’re preparing them a snack or dessert, make sure you serve a something on the healthier side. Strawberries are a great choice to incorporate in kids’ desserts as they’re both yummy and nutritious!

Try these yummy kid-friendly strawberry desserts at home:

Yummy Strawberry Oatmeal Bars

What you need:

  • 2 cups small diced fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon freshly-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Mix together the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, ginger and kosher salt in a medium bowl. Stir in the melted butter and mix until ingredients are well-combined. Take 1/2 cup of the mixture to set aside. Press the rest in an 8×8 inch baking pan lined with parchment paper.

Arrange half of the strawberries over the crust, top with cornstarch, lemon juice and 1/2 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Scatter remaining berries and reserved crumble on top. Bake in a pre-heated oven (375F) until golden and fruit is bubbly, around 35-40 mins. Refrigerate to cool completely. When ready, slice into bars and enjoy!

Nutella-Stuffed Strawberries

What you need:

  • 15 pcs fresh strawberries
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 1/4 cup toasted almonds coarsely chopped

Slice the strawberries in half lengthwise. Hollow out each half of the strawberry using a 1/4 teaspoon. Spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of Nutella in each strawberry half then top generously with chopped almonds. Serve and consume immediately.

Easy Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream

What you need:

  • 2 cups chopped fresh strawberries, plus more for topping
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup chopped poundcake, plus more for topping
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

Beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, using a mixer. Add the strawberries, poundcake and condensed milk. Pour the mixture in a 9×5 inch loaf pan. Top with additional strawberries and poundcake. Cover and freeze in the refrigerator until firm, at least 5-6 hours.

When ready, remove from the fridge and allow to soften for a few minutes before serving.
