Even more than ringing in the new year, it’s time to celebrate the end of 2020 — and Bay Area restaurants are ready to facilitate.
Restaurants typically roll out elaborate, multi-course meals for New Year’s Eve, and many are continuing the tradition this year with takeout tasting menus highlighting luxury ingredients like caviar, truffles and lobster. Others are opting for spreads of fun bites, cheese and charcuterie — the sort of grazing you might expect at a house party, only much smaller. A few are spotlighting cultural traditions, such as eating soba noodles on the last day of the year, while others are keeping things relatively low-key with a few a la carte specials joining their normal menus.
As with Christmas and Thanksgiving meals, many of these special meals are served chilled with reheating instructions. Check directly with the restaurant if you’re specifically looking for takeout that’s served hot and ready to eat.
Unlike Christmas and Thanksgiving, however, almost all restaurants are open on New Year’s Eve. So call your favorite restaurant and see what they’ll be up to, as normal-priced restaurant meals are great ways to celebrate, too.
Here are 48 Bay Area restaurants serving special feasts and spreads for celebrating New Year’s Eve at home, organized by price per person.
