13 Tastes: Where to eat for Chinese New Year in Las Vegas

Chinese New Year 2021 (also known as Lunar New Year) will be observed Feb. 12. Celebrations will continue through Feb. 26 around the world.

The following is a list of Las Vegas restaurants that are celebrating with special offerings:

1. Beijing Noodle No. 9 at Caesars Palace hotel-casino will offer a offer a special Year of the Ox Chinese New Year menu as an addition to its to-go menu. Highlights from the specialty to-go menu include:

  • Double Boiled Pork Soup with Dry Oyster and Fatt Choy for $26.99
  • Poached Chicken with Ginger Sauce (Half Chicken) for $23.99
  • Wok Fried Sweet and Spicy Fish Fillet for $32.99
  • Steamed Santa Barbara Prawn with Chinese Wine (1 lb) for $129.99
  • Abalone Stir Fried with Bean Sprout, Carrot, Chive and Celery for $168.99
  • Steamed Coral Cod with Scallion (market price)
  • Pan Fried Sweet Rice Cake for $18.99
  • Sweet Red Bean Soup with Glutinous Rice Dumplings for $18.99

2. Usher in the Year of the Ox at China Poblano by José Andrés at The Cosmopolitan hotel-casino of Las Vegas! Inspired by traditional holiday feasts, our limited-time menu will feature traditional Chinese dishes celebrating wealth and prosperity in the new year! Available from Feb. 12 – 16, the menu will be offered inside the restaurant, as well as for takeout, with reservations available here.

The menu will include:

  • North South Jiaozi | pork dumplings with mushrooms, peanuts and cilantro
  • Singing Jade | bok choy stir-fried with black bean sauce, teardrop peppers and orange zest
  • Golden Yu | seared fish in a house-made sauce with ginger, scallion and Fresno chilies, dusted with edible gold flakes
  • The Pacific Tea | Perfectly crafted beer cocktail with tequila reposado and Jasmine green tea

3. The legendary dumpling and noodle house Din Tai Fung at ARIA Las Vegas has added Wagyu to its menu for the first time ever just in time for Chinese New Year. The new dish Mishima Wagyu Beef Tenderloin wok fried with tri-colored peppers, onion, shimeji mushrooms and house made black pepper sauce. Diners will also have several dumpling dishes to choose from including Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao and Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Dumplings or the Vegetable & Mushroom Dumplings. Dumplings are one of the foods traditionally eaten during Lunar New Year.

4. Fulton Street Food Hall Noodle Bar at Harrah’s Las Vegas will feature honey walnut shrimp for $28, as well as live lobster, stir fried with ginger, green onion and special sauce for $30 in celebration of the Lunar New Year.

5. Hong Kong Cafe inside the Venetian hotel-casino is offering a special menu for Chinese New Year. Menu items include Winners Daily Soup ($12.50), Chef Simon’s Golden Crispy Chicken ($38 half), Sun Dried Golden Oyster with Sea Moss ($138), steamed oysters with black bean sauce ($32), and sea cucumber sautéed with scallion and ginger ($138).

6. Jade Asian Kitchen & Noodles are offering Chinese Near Year specials from Feb. 8 through 14. Choose from several dining specials starting at $28.

  • Hong Kong-style Lobster with Dry Pepper Sauce $88 (fried lobster tail, green beans, red dry pepper, ground pork)
  • Pumpkin Stir-Fry $38 (steamed pumpkin, lotus root, sweet pea, dry mushroom, mushrooms, carrot, white sauce)
  • Steamed Fish with Ginger Scallion Soy Sauce $68 (steamed fish, ginger, scallion, cilantro, ham, dry mushroom)
  • Chinese BBQ Platter $68 (marinated tofu, half roast duck, cha shu pork)
  • Additional specials starting at $28

7. Chef David Chang’s Majordomo Meat & Fish at The Venetian hotel-casino is also getting in on the Lunar New Year celebration with a special menu that includes Dungeness crab, Wagyu ribeye cap, whole fried snapper, and the longevity lo mein that includes two pounds of lobster.

8. Mott 32 at The Venetian hotel-casino is offering an a la carte menu featuring whole Maine lobster, pan fried prawn and other traditional Chinese delicacies between Feb. 11 -14.

9. Northside Cafe & Chinese Kitchen at SAHARA Las Vegas is offering a special Chinese New Year menu created by renowned Chef Guoming “Sam” Xin. Guests can indulge in a number of dishes featuring authentic Chinese flavors, including Scallops with XO Sauce, ($26), Honey Walnut Prawns ($22), Salt and Pepper Calamari ($18), Mongolian Beef ($18), Orange Beef ($18), Kung Pao Chicken ($16), Orange Chicken, ($16) Yangzhou Fried Rice ($14), Chicken or Beef Chow Mein (starting at $14), Oxtail Soup ($16) and Congee ($6).

10. Ondori Asian Kitchen at The Orleans hotel-casino will feature a variety of specials Feb. 12-14. The specials include the Good Luck in the Year of the Ox special, a red wine-braised oxtail stew for $28.88; the Prosperity in the New Year dish, featuring a fresh and steamed whole seabass for $38.88; the Jīn Huá Yù Shù Jī special, featuring ham, black mushrooms and half-boneless steamed chicken for $38.88; the Plate of Gold with crispy, deep-fried oysters for $28.88; and Fat Choy with Dry Oyster Soup, a black moss, dried oyster and bean curd stick soup for $28.88. 11. Ping Pang Pong at Gold Coast hotel-casino will present its traditional gold brick-shaped Golden Fortune New Year Sweet Rice Cake, symbolizing ascending prosperity, health and peace for the new year. The classic offering is stamped with “999.9 Gold Bar” and will be available for $15. Ping Pang Pong will also serve Good Luck Cookies for $6.88 and Koi Fish-Shaped Coconut Pudding for $12.99, bringing guests good fortune in the new year. The special Chinese New Ye

12. The X Pot at the Venetian hotel-casino will offer a unique and unforgettable Chinese New Year tasting menu throughout the spacious main dining room for those looking to celebrate with close friends. The dynamic 7-course tasting menu is $198 per person and includes signature dishes such as the Jumbo Live Langoustine, Japanese A5 Wagyu beef, live seafood including Australian Lobster and Chilean Seabass, fresh vegetables, classic hot pot selections like X Special Black Tofu and The X Pot Wagyu Meatball, and more. In accordance with Nevada’s COVID-19 guidelines, tables can only sit up to 4 guests.

13. zuma Las Vegas at The Cosmopolitan hotel-casino is teaming up with Johnnie Walker Blue for a special omakase experience by Chef Sergio on Feb. 10 and 11 at 7 p.m. The experience, beginning at $225 per person, includes a signature prixe fix menu, alongside Johnnie Walker Green and Blue label libations. Guests will also receive a take away bag with Zuma chocolate truffles and a surprise from gift courtesy of Johnnie Walker. Menu highlights include lobster miso soup and Wagyu gyoza with black truffle, chicken “oyster” yakitori, iberico pork with yuzu truffle talon, roasted lobster with shies ponzu butter, grilled branzino, Alaskan king crab legs, Japanese A5 Wagyu and more. Tickets can be purchased via Sevenrooms. Space limited to first 16 guests per night to maintain social distancing and safety standards.
